Nikola Zajelac is an accomplished tennis coach with over 20 years of experience working with top-ranked players. Recognized for his ability to develop and nurture talent, he has a proven track record of success in elevating players’ skills and achieving remarkable results.

High Performance

As a High Performance Coach at the Hong Kong Sport Institute, Nikola brings a wealth of expertise to his coaching role. Throughout his extensive career, he has achieved numerous personal coaching highlights, including receiving several coaching awards. He worked with some of the best junior players in the world. One of them being, Nikola Milojevic, who became the number 1 junior in the world. He also worked as the coach of Jovana Jaksic, who reached world number 102. He had a privilage to work as a hitting partner for the top players such as Bojana Jovanovski (world number 32) and Janko Tipsarevic (world number 8). Coach Zajelac used to be the juniors National Team Captain of Serbia and was responsible for the development of the country’s best junior players.

Hong Kong Journey

As the National Junior’s Team Captain of Hong Kong, Nikola led the team to qualify for the World Davis Cup finals in Budapest. There, they had the opportunity to compete against renowned tennis players such as Carlos Alcaraz, Lorenzo Musetti, Harold Mayot, and Martin Damm. This achievement marked the first time in 11 years that Hong Kong had both boys’ and girls’ teams in the world team finals. Since 2016, Nikola has been working in Hong Kong as a high-performance coach, making significant contributions to the sport. He coached Hong Yi Cody Wong from 2016 to 2022, during which time they achieved historic results for Hong Kong tennis, including being ranked as the number one juniors in Hong Kong for several years, reaching number 18 in the world juniors ranking, the semifinals of the US Open doubles juniors, the quarterfinals of the Australian Open juniors, and winning three professional singles titles and 17 professional doubles titles. In 2022, as the tour coach of Coleman Wong achieved one title in doubles, one runner up and two semi-finals in singles. Coleman became the first male tennis player from Hong Kong to enter the top 200 ATP rankings.

Driven By Passion

Nikola currently works with the National men’s pro team of Hong Kong and he is a coach of Jack Wong, the five time National Champion of Hong Kong. Driven by passion, Nikola Zajelac approaches coaching with an individualized approach for each player. He recognizes the crucial role of the mental aspect of the game and actively supports his players in developing their emotional and mental strength, alongside their tennis mastery.
